TO SCRAP JEWELLERY OR SETTLE AN ESTATE:
If you are looking to scrap old jewellery* or settle an estate, the first step is to make an appointment with our professionals. In most cases, the jewellery must be left with us in order to be properly evaluated, so we will take an inventory of the pieces, including descriptions and photographs. We will evaluate the old gold, silver, or platinum pieces and contact you with the offer. If you decide to sell, we will write you a cheque. If you are settling an estate, please have the executor bring the proper documentation to your appointment. We will require you to display your proper government identification before we can complete the transaction.
*Scrap evaluations will be determined on a case by case basis. We reserve the right to refuse any items at our discretion.
FOR CUSTOM JEWELLERY:
When creating a custom jewellery piece it’s a great idea to go through your jewellery box ahead of time and gather all your old, broken or unwanted jewellery to bring with you to your appointment. Although we do not re-use the metal**, we will evaluate your jewellery and give you a scrap value. If you decide to sell, this value can then be put towards creating something new. We rarely offer a value for any stones, and we encourage you to re-use them in your custom piece!
**Unfortunately, re-using old gold is not as simple as it sounds. The refining process is expensive and lengthy and not realistic on a smaller scale. The refining process is intended for large quantities of gold and is simply not effective for case-by-case custom jewellery.
